“Destroyed” Green Beans

Okay so right off maybe that’s not the best title. Maybe I should call them something like, soft green beans, slow cooker green beans, green beans that taste like they are from a can, but without all that added BPA. However, in my family that’s what we call them. These are the beans that are so soft that my baby can eat them (and does, my littlest adores these beans and will down a whole pile of them). These are the beans my husband likes with Thanksgiving or really any time it’s cold out. Believe it or not I do have a second green bean side dish recipe that’s in my arsenal. It’s called Armenian Green Beans and it’s quite good too. The beans taste totally different then these and are actually slightly chewy because they cook nowhere near as long (sort of like the al dente pasta of the green bean world really). Those are my second favorite beans and I do make them whenever I’m rotating out what’s in my freezer, but the beans below are still the run away favorite at the end of the day. I don’t own a crock pot, but otherwise I’d encourage you to use on for this recipe. I’ll bet if you put it on super lower these could cook for the afternoon and be ready for dinner. Here’s to an old-fashioned side dish. You could totally sprinkle these with those fried onion things you use at Thanksgiving and they would be awesome!

Note: The prep for this recipe is minimal, but the cooking time is long. If you need something shorter, make the Armenian Green Beans instead.
